Our Juicy Story

A native Calgarian with an MSc in Plant Biology, Rosemary Wotske has been an organic farmer since 1985—no small feat on the Canadian Prairies. In fact, the #1 hit of that year was Corey Hart's "Never Surrender", a fitting anthem for the resilience required to farm this land.

Back then, Rosemary carefully chose her plot in the Alberta potato belt based on soil properties, wind protection, and access to mountain-fresh water. She prepped, planted, and tended her flagship varieties the following year, on land that had been shaped by wind and water long before us. Those north-south strips you see from the highway aren't just rows, they're a century-old lesson in reading the prairie sky. As the saying goes: we didn't choose this land; it chose us.

Rosemary dedicated herself to regenerating the land, crafting her own organic fertilizers to nurture the soil and naturally deter pests. The namesake poplars act as a natural windbreak to protect the topsoil and plants, while a significant investment in irrigation saves many a crop from punishing drought.

Our founder knows the value of eating healthfully—and she encourages people to think about what they drink as well. Too many good meals are wrecked by bad beverages. Keeping fructose and added sweeteners to a minimum is best for everyone. And if you want to sneak in more nutrition by drinking your veggies, there aren't many flavourful choices out there.

Rosemary set out to change that with her produce blends. She uses her own organic veggies—Nantes carrots (the queen of them all) and rich, heart-healthy beets—then pairs them perfectly with touches of fruit and seasonings that offer something truly new and delicious.

The juice is blended and bottled at an organic, CFIA-inspected facility in Picture Butte, a trusted partner farm that maintains the same high standards Poplar Bluff Organics is known for. From crop to bottle, everything takes place in Alberta, Canada, making Poplar Bluff Organics' juice line the first of its kind in the province.
